Quotes from Joel Goldsmith

"Most men and women are convinced that there is a divine Power of some sort operating in human affairs but they are not sure what it is, nor do they know how to bring this divine Presence and Power into their daily experience." This highlights the need for meditation to experience God's presence in daily life.
-
"The world is full of discord... Discord and inharmony come into our life because of our ignorance of God. As we acquaint ourselves with Him, we find the secret of harmonious existence..." Meditation helps us understand God and live in harmony.
-
"Freedom is a condition of the Soul. As we turn to the kingdom of our inner Self, we find the reign of divine Power in the outer world. As we seek peace within, we find harmony without." This emphasizes how meditation leads to inner peace and outer harmony.
-
"This listening is the art of meditation, in the learning of which we come to a place of transition where truth leaves the mind and enters the heart." Meditation transforms intellectual knowledge into a living reality within us.
-
"Meditation leads us to an experience in which we know that there is a God. It leads us to a point where we are as convinced of the reality of God as we are of the fact that we are here reading this book." This underscores how meditation makes God a tangible reality in our lives.
-
"The purpose of this book is to help students practice the art of meditation by which the Word takes root, so that they come into an actual awareness, an actual consciousness of living in the Spirit." Meditation is essential for spiritual awareness and living in the Spirit.

Three Stages of Meditation

The three stages of meditation to be considered separately:
1. CONTEMPLATIVE MEDITATION – Consider God’s presence, God as the only power and the only presence. Consider "the Lord is my shepherd, God is in the midst of me'. This step leads to an inner stillness.
2. COMMUNION WITH GOD – Here we come face-to-face with the Spirit within me. We get an actual feeling of the Presence.
3. CONSCIOUS UNION WITH GOD – In this stage the person seems to disappear and we become ONE with God. There isn’t a ‘me’ but only the Presence, only the ONE. This is the ultimate goal of meditation, for then we will literally be taught of God and the Presence of God lives our Life. What an experience!
